AFTER United Nations (UN) recently released a statement directed to Zimbabwe government to immediately stop abductions and torture of opposition members, the police has just arrested the trio of MDC Alliance – Johanna Mamombe, Cecilia Chimbiri and Netsai Marova.
Fadzayi Mahere has confirmed the development that the trio have been arrested at the offices of their lawyers.
Circumstances are that the police had been following them under an unclear surveillance. Charges relate to an alleged fake abduction report.
The actions are going against the recent report by UN which had directed the government to desist from harassing, torturing and abducting members of opposition party.
Its seems the report did not go well with the authorities who are trying to prove that the abduction of the trio was “stage managed” as they allege it to be.
People aligned to opposition have been angered by the arrests and they had also been criticising UN for the lack of decisive action to Zimbabwean crisis in human rights.
Most people in Zimbabwe no longer have respect for UN which they have labelled as a toothless dog.
